CIRCLE MARKERS – 1994 – Oil on Board – 73 x 52 cm
Private Collection, New Zealand
This is one of several of a series of works where I used a variety of markers upon the landscape to convey the different relationships that humans have with the land. This particular example of those paintings is interesting to me in that there is no traditional reason for these markers to be placed in this environment in this particular way and so they could be seen as artworks in their own right. This is perhaps a pre-emption of the sculpture park that I established with others in Niue a couple of years later.
